I AM that I AM. I am what I think and believe. That which we affirm becomes our reality. When we change our thoughts we change our reality.
If our affirmations are: I am fat, I am unworthy, I am stupid, I am unwanted, I am useless, I am………. our mind believes us. This is why verbal abuse is such a powerful tool for abusers. They use the power of words to break their victim down and then control them.
As I work through the trauma and side effects of my abuse I am realizing that I can use those same mind tricks to heal. I can choose new affirmations. I am strong, I am healthy, I am secure, I am safe, I am loved, I am wanted, I am beautiful. To start with it was hard to believe them. I often negated them or found myself doubting. I found that by listening to powerful affirmations from YouTube I was able to shift my beliefs.
