Grounding – Connecting to the Earth

I was never I girly girl, I loved playing outside, climbing trees, working in the yard with my dad, and laying on the ground watching the clouds. Anytime I felt anxious, upset, or overwhelmed I would go outside, take of my shoes and daydream. I did not understand that what I was doing was grounding my self to the earth.

In the Journal of Environmental and Public Health in January of 2012 they released Earthing: Health Implications of Reconnecting the Human Body to the Earth’s Surface Electrons. Earthing (also known as grounding) refers to contact with the Earth’s surface electrons by walking barefoot outside or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to conductive systems, some of them patented, that transfer the energy from the ground into the body.

I recently started learning more about grounding in efforts to better understand some of the essential oils I am most drawn to as I support my wellbeing. I know understand understand why the first time I smelled doTERRA’s Balance Grounding I was drawn to it and it has become a staple in our home. It brings me back to my childhood and connecting with the earth.
